Between November 26th – December 10th, 2020 Japanese composer and musician Makoto Nomura and Art Coordinator Mari Satomura attended a research retreat at UTokyo Institute of Industrial Science Memu Earth Lab together with the project leader Yu Morishita, musician Nobuhiko Chiba and Nick Luscombe and James Greer from the sound art practice MSCTY.

The group explored the sonic landscape of Memu, through field recording and improvised musical events at numerous locations.

Upon returning to his home studio, Makoto then wrote and recorded a series of piano pieces, inspired by his memories of Memu.

This album is a document of some of the activity that took place during those icy days.
